He was a former Rittman barber and also worked at the Packaging Corp. of America and Westfield Insurance Companies. He was a member of the Sterling Grace Brethren Church. He is survived by wife, Olive; son, Robert of Rittman; daughter, Mrs. JoAnn Marken of Sterling; sister, Mrs. Dorothy Hemmeter of Medina; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. Services 1:00 p.m. Monday from the Gillman Funeral Home, Rittman where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Burial in Mound Hill Cemetery, Seville. He was the namesake his mother's cousin, Harry B. May, a well-known Shelby, Ohio barber. He married the young maiden, Olive Irene Mills, on 19 Mar 1913 in Wayne Co., Ohio, and began sporadically using Halliwell as his family surname before 17 Dec that same year. He and his younger brother Glen signed legal documents as Halliwell soon after they completed their 5 June 1917 WW1 Draft Registration cards.

After retiring and selling his shop, Harry sold insurance for the Westfield Insurance Company and became a long-time employee of Ohio Box Board Company (Packaging Corp) in Rittman. Harry and his wife Olive were long-time residents of Rittman and the Sterling area in Wayne Co., Ohio and had three biological children. In 1926, the couple became the foster parents of their nephew Robert Allen Halliwell within a short time after the death of his mother, Mamie Alice Barton Halliwell. The family removed to Sterling in the mid 1930s where their children attended and graduated from Sterling High School. In 1964, Harry and Olive resided in a small cottage on State Street in Rittman behind that of Jerry (son of Robert Allen) and his wife Barbara Halliwell. The couple moved into a cottage near the "Fountain" on Pleasant Home Road in Wayne Co. prior to 1976.
His death was recorded in the Ohio Vital Statistics as Harry G. Halliwell, SSN 273058439, age 83, white married male of Wayne Co., Ohio. Died 18 September 1976 in Wayne Co., Ohio.
