Israel Eugene Shoemaker was born in Medford, Oregon. He was a long time resident of Granby, Missouri and moved to Oklahoma City two years ago. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was very active all of his life. He served a two-year mission for the Church in Arcadia, California. He died of a sudden illness. He graduated from East Newton High School in 1994 being active in Future Farmers of America and Boy Scouting. He also was the Manager of the East Newton Football team for all four of his years there. When he returned from his mission, he married Angela Colleen Jacobs on June 11, 1998. They have one 3-year-old son, Jaxon Eugene Shoemaker.
He is survived by his wife, Angela and his son, Jaxon; his mother, Leslie Dunn of the home; his father, Darryl Shoemaker of Medford, Oregon; three brothers, Jared Shoemaker, Kristopher Shoemaker of Neosho, Missouri, and Shawn Shoemaker of Coffeyville, Kansas. Also surviving is a grandfather, Dwayne Shoemaker of Medford, Oregon and a grandmother, Sandra Tucker of the home.
Services will be held 2 pm, Saturday, January 24, 2009, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints (12020 N. Mustang Rd.). Services under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond, OK.
