Mary Thelma Sims, age 90, a lifelong resident of East Brainerd, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, January 22, 2009 in a local health care facility. She was a charter member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and she retired as manager of Sid Varner's Florist.
She was preceded in death by husband, John Edward Sims; daughter, Karen "Cookie" Meadows; son, Charles L. Sims; grandson, Jed Sims.
She is survived by son, Gerald Sims of East Ridge, Tennessee; two granddaughters, Crystal Walker of Chattanooga and Brandy Sims of Chattanooga; three grandsons, Glen Meadows, Greg Meadows and Gary Meadows all of Chattanooga;
Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2 P.M. at the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Rev. Jeremy Fincher of Philadelphia Baptist Church at Oak Hill officiating. Interment will be in Garrett's Chapel Cemetery in High Point, Georgia. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. and on Sunday from 1 P.M. to 2 P.M. at the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
