Before entering the sisterhood, Sister Monica was an active member of the Third Order of St. Francis and of St. Paul's parish. After the death of her husband Fred, she entered the Sisters of Social Service in 1951. Along with her social work in St. Agnes, Our Lady of the Valley, Assumption and Christ the King parishes, she was for years in charge of the Secretariate of the Sacred Heart, promoting the Enthronement of the Sacred Heart and night adoration in the home.
She was director of Stella Maris House from 1959 to 1961 and Superior of the Sisters of Social Service convent in San Rafael from 1964 to 1966. She died at the Motherhouse in Los Angeles.
All were saddened by Sister Monica's departure. By the will of God may she rest in peace.
Her motto was, "Ex fide vivere" - to live by faith. She lived her motto completely, in her words, her actions, and her work.
