Kenneth W. Skirvin
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Kenneth Wayne Skirvin, 69, of Williamsburg, Va., formerly of Bloomington, died Monday at Regency Health Care Center in Grafton, Va. of an illness.
Born Sept. 26, 1920, in Bloomington, he was the son of James Bertram and Jessie (Stevens) Skirvin. He was a former management analyst with Fairfax County Public School System in Fairfax, Va., retiring in 1982. He served 12 years with the U.S. government's Foreign Assistance Program in Egypt, Libya and Brazil before working with the Peace Corps in Washington, D. C. He was a U.S. Army cryptographic officer during World War II. He earned a bachelor of science degree at Indiana University, where he later taught.
Survivors include his wife, Freda (Smith) Skirvin; one daughter, Linda Pester of Grafton, Va.; one son, David Skirvin of Matthew, Va.; two sisters, Alice Norris and Helen Flynn, both of Bloomington; and five grandchildren.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. today at Buck Trout Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D. C.
Memorial services in Bloomington will be announced at a later date.
