WILLITTS.--Aaron Willitts was born in Tabernacle, New Jersey, December 12, 1832, and died in Smithville, New Jersey, December 13, 1891. He was taken with a congestive chill on Wednesday morning, December 2, and gradually grew worse. At 13 he was soundly converted and joined the Methodist Episcopal Church at Tabernacle, New Jersey, and had served God and the Church faithfully forty-six years. He was a resident of Smithville for about twenty-five years, and had been indentified with Smithville Methodist Episcopal for twenty or more years. In this church he was a pillar, serving when he died as Sunday-school teacher, trustee, steward, and Local Preacher. He was made Local Preacher fourteen years ago, and thereafter Smithville being an afternoon appointment, occupied the pulpit almost every other Sunday evening. Just before his death he said: "My experience is that Jesus saves me now." He possessed "the peace of God which passeth all understanding" in his last hours, and with perfect resignation passed away. The funeral services were conducted in the church on Wednesday morning, December 16, by Rev. M. E. Snyder, pastor, assisted by the Revs. W. R. Wedderspoon, J. E. Sawn, and S. Applegate. His remains were laid away in the Methodist Cemetery at Pemberton, New Jersey. The deceased left a wife and three daughters.
