Homer Daniel Boone, age 78, of the Rebels Creek Community in Bakersville died Saturday, February 7, 2009 at his home in Bakersville, N.C.

A native of Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Jim and Bessie Willis Boone.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Boone who passed away in 2003.

He was also preceded in death by two sons; Scott and Mark Boone; two brothers; Jeter and Howard Boone; and five sisters; Willie Griffith, Effie Swann, Jennie Griffith, Viola Willis and Ora Woody.

Mr. Boone was a member and deacon of the Rebels Creek Baptist Church.

The funeral services for Homer Boone will be held on Monday, February 9, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. in the Grindstaff Memorial Chapel of Webb Funeral Home.

Interment will be in the Rebels Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 1 p.m. until the service hour in the funeral home chapel.
