Jorge had served during the Korean War and at various US Army military posts, before going to Vietnam. Jorge arrived in Vietnam 6 January 1968, where he was assigned as a Platoon Sgt o A Company, 2nd Battalion, 47th Infantry, 9th Infantry Division, USARV. A Company was on a combat patrol, when Jorge died as a result of a hostile gunshot from a hostile sniper.
Jorge served his country in the US Army for 16 years.
Survived by his wife, Sieglinda C Batista-Rodrigues of 7719 Westland, San Antonio, Texas, and his 3 children; Donna, Vevette and Luis residing with his mother; Luisa Rodrigues of 1036 Manor Avenue, Apt #3-D, Bronx, New York and his father; Luis A Batista of 69 Norfolk Avenue, New York.
