Coats Fields, 88 of Batesville, died Saturday February 7, 2009 in Batesville. He was born November 21, 1920 in Cord, Arkansas to Fred Elmer Fields and Bessie Barr Fields. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II, was the operations manager at Settles Dry Cleaners for 25 years, and transported cars for local car dealerships for 10 years. His family described him as a family man, who was very patient and genuine, who collected antique watches, and loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Wanda Wooldridge Fields, a son, Jeffery Carroll of Dayton, Ohio, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, Terry Carroll, a step-son Ricky Ring and two sisters.

Funeral services will be Monday, February 9, 2009 at 10:00 a.m., at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Ralph Wallis officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, February 8, 2009, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.

Pallbearers will be Bill Estes, Bart Duncan, Blaine Ring, Jeremy Ring, Rick Ring and Danny Thompson.
