Actor. Born as Douglas W. Blackley Jr. in Hartford, Connecticut, was first a prize fighter before beginning his motion picture acting career as Robert Kent. He specialized in westerns, action and adventure films, appearing in such pictures as “Gang Bullets” in 1938, “The Phantom Creeps” in 1939 and “Twilight on the Trail” in 1941. The most successful film he appeared is was “The Country Girl” in 1954. He married actress Astrid Allwyn, and three years after the marriage it would end in divorce. Robert would eventually marry again to Beverly McNamara, he also had three daughters. He suffered from alcoholism and died at the age of 46 from a coronary occlusion.
