Charles "Charley" Kessler was the son of Benjamin Franklin and Iva Fenton Pointer Kessler. He had three siblings: Stanley John, Grace (died young), and Edith Marie (Hagood).
He was born in Drexel, Bates County, Missouri. The family is found in the 1900 census in Merwin Town, Bates County, Missouri. In the 1910 census the family is in Norman Ward 4, Cleveland County, Oklahoma.

Charley went to Kansas to work harvesting and died on July 4, 1911 of Typhoid Fever. The body was brought back to Norman, Oklahoma for burial. His sister, Grace, is also buried at this cemetery.
