It was the first time that the women's hammer throw was staged at the Olympics and she set an Olympic record which stood for four years. She also became the youngest Olympic hammer throw champion ever in the games at age 17. She received the Polish Golden Cross of Merit for her achievement. In 2006, she won two gold medals in the European Championships and set the Polish record for the hammer throw in May, 2007.
