Son of Dr. John and Mary (Durkee) Brewster, Sr.
Moved to Buxton, York County, Maine in late 1795.
He married Dorcas, a daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Paul Coffin on 22 November 1795. To this union, John William Augustus Brewster, Dorcas (Brewster) Woodman, Stephen Coffin Brewster, Charles Royal Brewster, and Frances Gorham (Brewster) Emery were born.
Dr. Brewster served the Town for many years as a respected and beloved physician.
(Note: The "Dr. Royal Brewster Mansion", located at the intersection of Routes 112 and 202 in Bar Mills, was added the register of National Historic Landmarks on June 5, 1975. The construction on the Federal-style house was completed by Dr. Royal Brewster in 1805. It was about this time that his famous older brother, John Brewster, Jr, artist, came to live with him.)
