Funeral services for Richard "Dick" J. Kennedy, 83, of 93 Jefferson Ave, Massena will be Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Church with Rev. Michael J. Gaffney presiding.

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Massena. Mr. Kennedy went to be with his Lord Sunday morning (February 22,2009 )at the United Helpers Home, Ogdensburg where he had been a resident since 2008.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral at the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena.

Mr. Kennedy is survived by his wife of nearly 53 years , Anne; two brothers, Curtis and Daniel Kennedy both of Ogdensburg; and many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two sisters and two brothers, Marge Carvel 1986, Doris Sullivan 1988, Robert 1969 and Karl 1942.

Born in Ogdensburg October 25, 1925 he was the son of Daniel and Mary (MacDonald) Kennedy. He was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy. He attended Canton Agricultural Institute. He served in the US Army during the end of WW II.

Following his discharge he married Anne Lazarchuck on November 22, 1956 at St. Margaret's Church in Mattydale by Rev. Thomas McNichol. He was employed at Endicott Johnson Shoe Store and later was an agent for Mutual of Omaha for five years. He then opened Kennedy Shoe Store in Massena where he owned and operated until his retirement in 1990.

He was an active member of St. Mary's Church for many years. He was a member of the Prayer and Community Group at St. Mary's, a long time member of the American Legion Post # 79, Knights of Columbus Council # 1141, and Massena Senior Citizens.
