SOUTH BEND - Maxine K. Schlifke, 83, died at 11:42 a.m. Monday in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center. Maxine was born on June 25, 1925, to the late Arthur C. and Mildred (Wise) Clemans.

On Janaury 18, 1947, in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Woodland, IN, Maxine married Arthur R. Schlifke, who passed away on January 5, 1988.

Survivors include her son, Robert A. (Susan) Schlifke of South Bend; daughter, Deborah K. Clark of Zionsvile, IN; grandsons, Gregory R. Schlifke of Zionsville, Jonathan A. Clark of Washington, D.C., and Peter M. (Sarah ) Schlifke of Indianapolis; and a brother, Jack (Darlene) Clemans of South Bend.

She was a member of Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, the Valparaiso University Guild, and was a Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center Auxiliary volunteer for 20 years.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 1827 E. Ireland Road. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday in Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, with visitation one hour prior in the church. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.
