World War 1, entered service, August 8, 1917, in the ERC, Mineola, New York. He attended the Military Aeronautic School at Cornell University, the Aviation Camp at Garden City, Queens and Flying Cadets School, at Love Field, Texas.

He was commissioned, 2nd Lieutenant, Air Service, March 26, 1918, at Love Field, Texas. He shipped out for Europe, May 18, 1918, and was a combat pilot in France. He returned from France, June 30, 1919, and discharged from the service, Sept 22, 1919, at Mitchell Field, NY.

Post World War 1, enlisted, February 1, 1921, in Troop A, Squadron A Cavalry, NYNG, New York City. Shortly after his enlistment Squadron A Cavalry was reorganized into the 51st Machine Gun Squadron, NYNG ( from 1922 to 1923 he worked on famine relief programs in the Soviet Union ). He was discharged from the 51st Machine Gun Squadron, January 3, 1925.

World War 2 Era, as an Army Reserve officer he helped supervise pilot recruiting and procurement of airplanes for the Flying Tigers, in China. During the war he saw service in North Africa, Italy and Germany. He was also a member of the U.S. liaison staff at the Yalta Conference in February 1945.

After the war he served on relief programs in several countries and was the chief of US Relief Mission to Italy.

Korean War, he was recalled to active duty during the Korean War and served as a financial adviser for the Korean government.
