At his residence in Rockingham County, NC, on the 18th ultimo, Mr. John Morehead, Senator, a worthy and pious man and soldier of the Revolutionary War went to be with his Lord.
His end affords a bright triumph to the Redeemers Cause. Although this veteran follower of Christ was afflicted most intensely for weeks before his death, yet his patience and fortitrude never sagged for a moment. He regularly kept up, of observance of family duty to the last, and finally quitted this mortal scene, full of hope and exaltation.
Mr. Morehead was the father of a large family, who he had assiduously endeadored to prepare for their course in life with moral and literary instruction, and had the dying satisfaction and witnessing the eminent success of this preparation.
