Willis lived in Nether Hallam and Ecclesall Bierlow, now suburbs of Sheffield, Yorkshire. He was a woolen warehouseman. He and wife Sarah had five children. He used to stop in at the Pubs after work and sing with his buddies, and had a good voice. In 1891 the family lived at 58 Stewart Road, Sheffield (see photo). Sadly he died when 35 years old, at South Yorkshire Asylum, Wadsley, now the Middlewood Hospital. (See his wife's story.)
