Rev. Dr. George Henry Bridgman was the son of John Pettit and Marcia (Willson) Bridgman. He was the husband of Mary Blythe (Elliott) Bridgman. They were married June 26, 1873. Mary died October 13,1938. Rev. Dr. Bridgman was a minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church: He was received on credentials from Wesleyan, Canada 1874 East Genesee Conference at reorganization and to Genesee (Western New York/now Upper New York) Conference at consolidation 1876 Minnesota Conference by transfer 1883 Northern Minnesota Conference before 1926. He was President of Hamline University, Saint Paul, Minnesota 1883-1912. Bridgman Hall at Hamline University was named in his honor in 1954.
