Mildred Katherine "Midge" Ruth, age 98, of Marion, died on Thursday evening, August 7, 2008, at the Sunbridge Care Center.

She was born in Marion County, Ohio, on August 31, 1909, the daughter of the late Otto and Emma (Dutt) Seiter. Mildred graduated from Pleasant High School in the Class of 1929.

Mildred married Milton S. Ruth, on November 10, 1928, in Covington, Kentucky. They were married for 36 years before his passing in 1965.

While Mildred's official title was that of mother and homemaker, she played a significant role on the family farm. She would raise chickens and help out with the livestock, even milk the cows.

A well rounded person, Mildred also enjoyed traveling. She vacationed all over the world, from Europe to Australia and others along the way. Her most proud traveling achievement was that of her visits to the Pyramids in Egypt and the Great Wall of China.

She also had a grand time dancing the Polka. She and her dance partner Woody Kaelber would go wherever they needed to go for Polka.

Mildred loved the excitement of horseracing and was an avid basketball fan, going to as many games as she could.

A woman of great faith, Mildred was a member of the Emanuel Reform Church where she belonged to the Women's Guild and sang in the choir for over 50 years.

Mildred was also a member of the Homemaker's Club and a past member of the AAA Board in Marion.

She will be missed by her three children George (LaVon) and Roger (Jane) Ruth both of Marion and Mary Ruth of Bluffton, South Carolina; daughter-in-law Marge Ruth Jones. grandchildren David (Debra) Ruth, Lorie (Scott) Cox, Erinn (Daniel) Zeitlin, Steven (Lyn) Ruth, Jon Ruth, Arden (Sherry) Ruth; great grandchildren Andrew (Melinda) Ruth, Brian Ruth, Caden Ruth, and Coleman and Caroline Cox; great great grandchildren Madelyn Ruth; step great grandchildren Larry (Seri) Linstedt, Carrie (Brian) Russell, and Christine Linstedt; step great great grandchildren Owen, Hudson, and Ivy Lyn Russell and Madison Linstedt; and her sister Donna Flach of Essex.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her daughter Jean Ann Ruth; son William E. Ruth; and brothers Perry, Robert, Melvin, and Berneldo Seiter.

Her family will greet friends on Sunday from 2 – 5 p.m. at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion, where services celebrating her life will be held on Monday at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor David Lippert officiating. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery.
