Services for William M. Phelps, age 69, formerly of Johnson County, were held on Tuesday, March 23, in Minneapolis, Minn.
Mr. Phelps was the son of the late Thomas and Trenvilla
Webb-Phelps, of Van Lear.
He left Johnson County in 1907.
Mr. Phelps was a member of the Minneapolis police force for thirty-two years before retiring in 1951.
He was a veteran of World War I.
Survivors include a son, Richard W., of Richfield, Minn.; and a daughter, Mrs. Donald Grubb, of Rapid City, S.D.; five brothers, Bruce and Kent, both of West Van Lear, Ky.; John and Lon both of Meally, Ky.; and Sam of Michigan;
three sisters, Mrs. Gervin Short, of Van Lear, Ky.; Mrs. James Hall, of Prestonsburg, Ky.; and Mrs. Emmie Pelphrey, of Ashford, W.Va., John R., Kent, and Bruce Phelps, brothers of the deceased,
attended the funeral from Johnson County.
Burial followed the rites in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
