JONESPORT - Venetta A. Kelley, 80, passed away Feb. 7, 2005, at Narraguagus Bay Health Care Facility in Milbridge after a brief illness. She was born Jan. 5, 1924, in Jonesport, the daughter of the late Abner M. and Martha A. (Alley) Foss. Venetta was an avid reader and especially enjoyed reading books by Maine authors. Her joy of reading developed at an early age from her time spent living on Whitehead Light located near Spruce Head. Venetta's love of lighthouses continued her entire life. She is survived by a son, Michael Kelley and wife, Cindy, of Jonesport; daughter-in-law, Susan Kelley, of Bath; three grandchildren, Jonathan Kelley of Antlers, Okla., Christopher Kelley of Portland, and Daren Kelley of Jonesport; brother, Arthur James Alley of Rockland; sister-in-laws, Trenna Kelley and Muriel "Dolly" Kelley, both of Beals; brothers-in-law, Ernest Kelley, Sr. and wife, Marilyn, of Jonesport and Eugene Morrill of New Castle, N.H.; cousins, Myrtle and Les White of Southwest Harbor, Riley Faulkingham of Zephyrhills, Fla.; special friend, Rev. George Woodward of Jonesport; several nieces and nephews; and beloved Boston Terrier, Nickie. Venetta was predeceased by her husband, Merrill "Brownie" Kelley in 2002; a son, Brian Kelley in 2004; and a sister, Nella Morrill. A graveside service will be held at a later date to be announced in the spring.
