Betty F. Petillo, 87, formerly of Asbury Park, died at Waterford Glen Assisted Living, Wall. She was born in Flushing, N.Y. and came to Asbury Park when she was 18 years old, she moved to Wanamassa and then returned to Asbury Park before moving to Wall four years ago. Betty was a lifelong communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Asbury Park. She was also a member of the Catholic War Veterans Ladies Auxillary and the Opera Guild. She prided herself as one of Asbury Park's first lady bartenders. She started working in Asbury Park during World War II at Mrs. Jay's, then Matty's for 24 years the Jefferson and lastly Wanamassa Gardens.
She was the proud daughter of the late opera tenor Guido Ciccolini and his wife Gladys. She was also predeceased by her husband, Patrick, who died in 2000; and two sisters, Roma Paige Ciccolini and Gloria Morrell. Betty is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, James, and Joseph and Linda; four grandchildren, Tony, Jimmy, Bryn, and Carissa; and a great-grandson, Jason.
