Wilson G. Stanford, 69, Flora died at 10:35 a.m. on Monday in his home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p..m. on Thursday at the Flora chapel of the Hosselton-Bookhout-Engelmeier Funeral Home, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

He was born on Oct. 16, 1915, in Wayne County to George and Sylvia (Flexter) Stanford. He married Dorothy Hamilton on Sept. 9, 1933, in Flora. She survives.

He was a member of the Bethlehem Christian Church and was a World War II veteran.

Along with his wife, Mr. Stanford is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Frank (Norma) Hargis of Flora; one son, Jim of Flora; four sisters, Glady Ferguson and Goldy Goff, both of Flora, Ruby Lindsey of Mission, Texas, and Betty Huey of Creole Springs; one brother, Roy of Flora; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister and one grandchild.

ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS AN APPRENTICE SEAMAN DRAFTEE ON APRIL 15, 1945 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. COMPLETED BOOT CAMP AT NAVAL TRAINING CENTER, GREAT LAKES, ILLINOIS. SERVED IN THE PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS AT NAVAL BASE 3002 (SUBIC BAY, LUZON, PHILIPPINES). EARNED THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A SEAMAN SECOND CLASS ON MARCH 18, 1946 AT THE NAVAL PERSONAL SEPARATION CENTER, UNIT 3, GREAT LAKES, ILLINOIS.
