DECATUR - Lois M. Karch-Hopkins, 79, of Springfield, formerly of Decatur, passed away at 10:50 p.m. March 26, 2009, in St. John's Hospital, Springfield.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday March 31, 2009, at Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. till service time. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park Cemetery, Harristown.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, Springfield.

Lois was born August 1, 1929, in Enid, Oklahoma, the daughter of Paul Bryant and Genola (Burge) Deadmond. She married C. Cecil Karch Jr. in 1948. He preceded her in death on December 27, 1987. She then married Roy O. Hopkins in 1988. He preceded her in death on February 6, 2007.

She was member of the First Baptist Church in Springfield and was an active volunteer serving in many capacities with her church and will be greatly missed by her church family.

Surviving is her son, Cleve E. Karch and his wife, Karen of Charleston, IL; daughter, Deborah C. Dunning and her husband, Jay of Springfield; sisters, Ruth Myers of Decatur, IL and Doris Sablotny of Decatur, IL; grandchildren, Christine Sims and her fiance, Joe Colandrino of Pawnee, IL, Amy Diss of Springfield, IL, Kelly Karch of San Francisco, CA, P.J. Diss and his wife, Kendra of Chatham, IL, and Kim Berlin and her husband, Keith of Indianapolis, IN; great-grandchildren, Nathan Sims, Wyatt Sims, Grace Diss, Elyse Diss, and Owen Berlin. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by both husbands; parents; and two brothers, Paul Deadmond and Donald Deadmond.
