He was the son of Rev. Roy B. Arnette and Mamie Victoria McPhatter Arnette, and was the husband of Thelma E. Bullard Arnette for 52 years. He was a retired First Sergeant with the US Army, having served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and was also a retired corrections officer with 11 years of service. He was a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church and the Ashlar Lodge #894 where he was a Past Master. He had lived in Augusta since 1967.
He was survived by his wife, two sons, two daughters, two grandsons, two granddaughters, two step-grandchildren, and three brothers.
