On September 29th, 2005, Kent W. Vail joined the Lord on his lake in heaven. Kent passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends after a year long battle with cancer. He was born June 18th, 1943, in Pasco, Washington to Jay N. and Carol Bernice Vail. His family moved to the Wenatchee Valley when he was about six months old. He attended Lewis and Clark grade school, H.B. Ellison junior high and in his junior and senior years of high school, he attended Gordon's Military Academy in Barnesville, Georgia. He completed one year of college at Gordon's Military College. While he was attending school in Georgia, he was on their Honor Guard and participated in festivals throughout the South. In 1964, he returned to Wenatchee where he went to work for his father at J.N. Vail Roofing. Later he was manager of Vail Blacktop Specialties of Wenatchee and Pasco. In October of 1968, he married Marilyn Swartz. They had two daughters, Jenni and Kim. In 1976, he went into partnership with Bill Smith, his father and uncle, L.W. Vail at Columbia Budweiser Distributing. They sold the business in 1980. He built and operated CA Tavern and Spanky's Bar & Grill in Wenatchee. Recently he was partners in Mickey O'Reilly's Sports Bar in Port Angeles. Kent went into real estate and until his death, in real estate development. He was involved in Alzheimer/Dementia Retirement Centers and hotel developments throughout Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Montana, Colorado and Idaho. He was instrumental in the development of the Comfort Inn and Blossom Creek in Wenatchee. He was a past member of the Elks, Eagles, Ducks Unlimited and Wenatchee Golf and Country Club. Kent had been an active member of the Wenatchee Jaycees. Kent loved the outdoors. He really enjoyed staying on his boat at Lake Chelan where he loved having his family and friends, especially his grandkids, join him. He packed by horses into the high country where he went fishing and hunting with his parents and two brothers.

He was preceded in death by his father; mother; and niece, Cindy Vail Toftness. He is survived by his daughters, Jenni Vail and her children, Kristin, Kolbey, and Kraig Wood and Kandysse Russell; Kim and her husband Dan Kohlman and their children, Cody and Cierra Kohlman; his brothers and spouses, Garry and Nancy Vail and Don and Judy Vail. He leaves behind numerous nieces; nephews; and countless relatives and friends.

A Private Family Interment will be at the Wenatchee Cemetery Mausoleum with a Celebration of Life following at the LDS Church at 1621 Maiden Lane in Wenatchee on Friday, November 4th, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. Following the service, a reception will be held at Morgan's at 560 Valley Mall Parkway in East Wenatchee. In lieu of flowers, at Kent's request, a trust has been set up at any branch of Cashmere Valley Bank c/o Kim Kohlman that will be disbursed to Prostate Cancer Research and to further education of his grandchildren. He will always be loved and never forgotten. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the valley, East Wenatchee.
