Rev. John Wentworth Sanborn was the son of Jeremiah Prescott and Olive Cross (Wentworth) Sanborn. Julia Augusta (Sanborn) Sanborn was his 1st wife. They were married June 1, 1873. Julia died August 14, 1877. Minnie (Decker) Sanborn was his 2nd wife. They were married in Sep 1877. Minnie died June 26, 1880. Elma Margaret (Titus) Sanborn was his 3rd wife. They were married July 20, 1881. Elma died August 11, 1886. Adelaide (Hickox) Sanborn was his 4th wife. They were married November 27, 1886. Adelaide died January 23, 1933. Rev. Sanborn was a minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church: L 1869 Genesee (now Western New York Conference) Conference 1873 F 1875. While Rev. Sanborn was pastor at Gowanda and Indian Mission (1876-1878) he became interested in the Seneca Indians - learned their language and translated parts of the Bible, hymns and songs.
