CLARENCE E. WALTER, 90, PIONEER LUMBERMAN, DIES

Clarion - Clarence E. Walter, 90, former owner and operator of a feed mill on Liberty St., Clarion, and pioneer lumberman and raftsman in Clarion County, died at 4:08 a.m. Friday (Nov. 5) in his home at 333 E. Main St., Clarion.

Born at Gravel Lick January 28, 1875, he was a son of Frank and *Sarah Ann (Sally)Smith Walter*.
He was married October 8, 1904 to *Molly A. Martin*. She died January 1965.

Mr. Walter was a member of the First Methodist Church in Clarion.

He resided in Fisher for a number of years, than moved to Strattanville where he entered the coal mining business. He was one of the pioneers in road building, in Western Pennsylvania.

He moved to Clarion 45 years ago and established the feed mill business there. He had operated a general store in Strattanville before moving to Clarion.

He is survived by three sons, F. B. Walter of Louisville, Ky., Dr. N. J. Walter of Coral Gables, Fla., and Arthur L. Walter of Kittanning; a daughter, Mrs. Helen W. Guthrie of Los Angeles, Calif., a sister, Mrs. Inez McKindrey of New Kensington, and five grandchildren.

Removal was made to the Glove Funeral Home in Clarion where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Sunday where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday.

Rev. James Cox, pastor of the First Methodist Church in Clarion, will officiate, with Rev. W. R. Ross of Clarion, a retired Methodist minister, assisting in the service. Interment will be in the Presbyterian Cemetery at Fisher.
