Civil War Union soldier. Served in the 23rd Regiment Pennsylvania Infantry, Company D, and in the 91st Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteers Infantry, mustering in with Company A, where he rose to the rank of captain in command of Companies C, A, and H. He fought in the Battle of Gettysburg. He was married to Mary Brass, and had children Charles E., Howard M., and David M. Brass. At the time of his death, he lived at 2556 Cedar Street, Philadelphia.

BRASS.--On December 12, 1909, JOHN G. husband of the late Mary Brass, and son of the late Jacob and Jane Brass. Relatives and friends, also Survivor's Association, 91st Regiment, P V., are invited to attend the funeral service, on Wednesday, at 2 P.M., at the residence of his son, Mr Jacob Brass, No 2213 E Fifth st. Interment private at North Cedar Hill Cemetery.
