Enlisted in March 1934. John retired from the Navy with the rating of Chief Petty Officer after more then 20 years of service. He had been stationed in San Diego, Ca. before retiring.
John attended grade school and high school while growing up in Ignacio, Colorado. He was married to Gladys Smith. John and Gladys had three daughters. Patricia Joy 1942 – 2010 and two living.
