Lonnie spent from 1944 - 1947 in the Navy and after his Honorable discharge from the Navy, he and his wife (Janie) and two daughters arrived in Vancouver in 1952 and later raised all seven children here.
He owned Nettles Janitorial for 25 years, worked for Frightliner for 30 years and worked for the VA Hospital for a few years.
Lonnie enjoyed reading, public speaking, astronomy, camping, travel and later in life, the casino.
Lonnie is survived by his daughters, Marva Bright, Annette Nettles, Sharon Nettles-Jones, Lonnie Renee Nettles-White, Vanessa Timmons, Lisa Jo Nettles; and his son, Lonnie O. Nettles Jr.; brothers, Everett Nettles and Clint Nettles; sister, Shirley Rodriguez; and 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Tobe Nettles; mother, Roberta Nettles; brothers, Damas Nettles, Tobe Nettles, Jr., Roy Nettles, Charlie Nettles, Joe Nettles, Morris Nettles, Willard Nettles; sisters, Flossy Johnson, Minnie Hart, Mattie Hammack.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
