MERIDEN -- Dora C. Patterson, 88, Meriden, died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, at a Topeka hospital.

Mrs. Patterson and her husband farmed in the Meriden area for many years. She also had worked for the Meriden High School and the Family Room Restaurant in Meriden.

She was born May 10, 1910, at Elmont, the daughter of Lee and Mary Rosybell Combs Cook. She graduated from Meriden High School and was a lifelong Meriden resident. Mrs. Patterson was a member of the Muddy Creek Baptist Church north of Meriden. She married Johnnie D. Chapman on Nov. 18, 1933, at Berryton. He died April 4, 1951.

She married Arthur "Doc" Patterson on Sept. 6, 1957, at Aztec, N.M. He died in May 1991.

Mrs. Patterson also was preceded in death by a son, John Chapman, in April 1964.

Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Wofford, Beavercreek, Ohio; a son, Roy Chapman, Meriden; a stepdaughter, Darlene Bradford, Meriden; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Davidson Funeral Home in Topeka.

Burial will be at the Meriden Cemetery.

Mrs. Patterson will lie in state from noon to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home where relatives and friends will meet from 10 a.m. to service time Friday.

Memorial contributions may be made to God's Store House in Meriden and sent in care of the funeral home.
