Benjamin Alfred Dockery the youngest child of Col. John Dockery and Ann Mask Dockery of Lamartine, Arkansas. Benjamin's parents both died when he was still a child. He worked on the plantation and was raised by his older brother, the famous Brig. General Thomas P. Dockery.

Benjamin married Adeliza Blackwell on 6 Jul 1878 in Jefferson County, Arkansas they eventually made their home in Dallas, Texas where they raised their ten children. John Thomas Dockery, Anna Barbara Eagle, Kizzie Pearl Melton, Myrtle Dockery, Jess Pace Dockery, Ada Lenora (Lena) Carr, Alfie Henrietta McDonald, Nick Tolliver Dockery, William B. (Willie) Dockery, and Robert Benjamin Dockery.
Death Notice in the Dallas Morning News, June 16, 1904, Mortuary Matters, pg 12, col. 5:
B.A. Dockery dies at his home on Preston Road, north of Dallas, aged 49 years.
