A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2001, in Lincoln Willamette Funeral Directors for Viola Edith Valo, who died June 20 at age 92.
Mrs. Valo was born Viola Edith Kesti on May 14, 1909, in Frederick, S.D., and moved to Portland in 1914. She and her husband owned Holgate Paint and Wallpaper for 20 years, retiring in the late 1970s. She volunteered with the Portland Veterans Administration Hospital for 28 years and crocheted 14,561 pairs of slippers for the hospital. In 1947, she married Louis Valo; he died in 1977.
Survivors include her son, Richard B. McIntosh; daughter, Donna V. Fausnaught; brothers, John Kesti and Ray Kesti; sister, Esther Comstock; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Her son John Charles McIntosh died in 1999.
Interment in Willamette National Cemetery. Remembrances to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1442.
