Jesse Younkin Rites Dec. 17
Funeral services for Jesse Lee Younkin, 84, lifetime Taylor County resident, held December 17 at Shum-Novinger Funeral Home here, were conducted by Carl Cummings. Mr Younkin died December 14, 1970 at Ringgold County Hospital in Mt. Ayr following a short illness. Interment was at Platteville Cemetery, east of Bedford.
Jesse Lee Younkin, son of William and Mary Quimby Younkin, was born November 10, 1886, in Platteville, Taylor County, Iowa.
He lived his entire lifetime in Taylor County Iowa where he was engaged in farming until his retirement.
On March 20, 1910, he was united in marriage to Pearl [Fay] Higgins and to them were born four children, two sons and two daughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers, Lewis and Marion, and two sisters, Maude and Matt.
Left to cherish memories are his sons, Dale Younkin of Blockton and John Younkin of Sheridan; two daughters, Mrs. Ray Stein of Blockton and Mrs. Ivan Cunning of Saint Joseph, Mo.; 22 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; five nieces; four nephews; other relatives and a host of friends.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
