G. W. Cornwell, retired farmer, dies at 96. Catlettsburg-George Wasington Cornwell, 96, a retired farmer, died at 9:05pm last night in a Lexington Hospital after an extended illness. Mr. Cornwell had been living with a son, Reuben Cornwell of Strait Creek, Route 1, Ashland for the past three years.

Born in Tazewell County, Virginia, a son of Reuben and Rachel Spence Cornwell, he lived in Wayne Co., WV, most of his life before coming to live his son at Route 1, Ashland. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
The body is at the Kilgore-Collier Funeral home, pending funeral arrangements.

Surviving him are six other sons, Garland, Donald, and Albert Cornwell fo Lavalette, WV, Fred Cornwell of Gallipolis, Ohio, Zeno Cornwell of Columbus, Ohio, and Ormsby Cornwell of Ashland, KY; three daughters, Mrs. R.W. Ayers of Proctorville, Ohio, Mrs. R.J. Ayers of Huntington, WV, and Mrs. Mary Thompson ofChesapeake, Ohio: and fifty grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
