US Congressman. He was a member of the Rhode Island State House of Representatives, 1782 to 1784 and chosen as a Delegate to the Continental Congress in 1785, but did not serve. In 1799, he was elected as a Federalist to the Sixth Congress, serving until 1801. After his term, he engaged in mercantile pursuits until his death.
