Mr. Fleming was probably born in Chester Co., PA in either 1801 or 1809 to John W. Fleming and his wife Abigail Hanna Fleming. He was the brother of William, James, Jacob, Abigail, John and Thomas. He married Matilda Gaver in Columbiana Co., OH on Feb. 12, 1835. He and Matilda had the following children together: Alcinous, Mary, Matilda, Gertrude, Geraldine, Adda, Bascom and Frank. Mr. Fleming died in Keokuk, IA in 1868 and was originally buried there. The remainder of his family left Iowa and moved to Kansas, where he was re-interred to be with his wife and children there.
