She was born in Burlington, Vt., Sept. 17, 1926, the daughter of Howard and Agnes (Stannard) Moody.
Barbara was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed making beaded angels to give as gifts and crocheting, but her true love was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also made several beaded nativity scenes for family and friends. The scenes were made with a great deal of detail and loving care.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Kenneth Billings, whom she married Feb. 17, 1948; nine children, Linda LaRocque of Burlington, Vt., Gail Billings and husband, Ernest Vaillancourt of Franklin Center, Quebec, Patricia Billings of Mooers Forks, Barbara Aubin and husband, Ken of Mooers, Cynthia Smith of Mooers Forks, Kenneth Billings and wife, Cynthia of Rinkon, Ga., Terry Billings and wife, Denise of Mooers Forks, Todd Billings of Mooers Forks and Tammy Brink and husband, Jeffrey of Mooers Forks; 15 grandchildren, Lisa Draleaus, Misty Vaillancourt, Tracey Vaillancourt, Kevin Billings, Chad Billings, Heath Belrose, Travis Belrose, Andrew Billings, Kristin Billings, Jason Billings, Justin Billings, Katrina Billings, Caleb Billings, David Brink and Dakota Brink; 12 great grandchildren, Cheyenne, Dean and Alexis Belrose, Brittany, Kayla, Shawn and Alyssa Vaillancourt, Austin and Brendyn Martin, Haley Agoney, Cole and Zachary Billings, Bryce Billings, Sierra and Dakota LeClair, Nicholas and Jacob LaRocque, and Devin Draleaus; one sister, Patricia Lydick of Elkton, Md.; and two brothers, Peter Moody of Claremont, Del., and Henry Moody of Leesville, La.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; one son, Ronnie Billings; two sons-in-law, Robert LaRocque and Jeffrey Smith; and one daughter-in-law, Jamie Billings; two brothers, Howard and Frank Moody; and two sisters, Carrie Raab and Agnes Goulet.
Calling hours will be held today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers, with longtime family friend, the Rev. Alan D. Shnob, officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot in the Union Cemetery in Mooers Forks.
