The daughter of Ray and Inez Fickies. Alice married Theodore (Pete) Shindorf on April 22, 1939. They had four children, Donald (Carole) Shindorf, Bonnie (Bernie) Henige), Tom (Dorthy) Shindorf, and Douglas (Deb) Shindorf. Alice and Pete were blessed with 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 11 great-greatgrandchildren.

Throughout Alice's life, her many talents took her on many adventures. Her first job in her teens was hand sorting beans at the Oakley elevator. She also worked at Redmonds and Universal in Owosso for many years. She owned Alice Ann's Gift Shop in Chesaning in the 60s, where she taught ceramics to many high school students. Alice worked for Hehr Manufacturing before being hired at Buick in Flint, where her artistic ability led to a position in the art department designing and painting signs for Buick.

Alice had the ability to draw, sew, knit, or make whatever craft was on the market. She was also known for her calligraphy and frequently painted wedding and anniversary signs. Alice also wrote the historical book of Oakley and enjoyed working on genealogy.
