OLATHE- Dana Sherman Hewett, III was born Feb. 23, 1968 in Hays, KS to Dana, Jr. and Karen Sue (Moore) Hewett, and passed away May 12, 2009 near Geneseo, IL in an auto accident.

Dana grew up in Ellis, KS, graduating from Ellis High School in 1986. For the rest of his life, he was a commercial roofer working for various companies in the Kansas City area.

On Sept. 11, 1993 he married Kristi Kay Tien in Phillipsburg, KS, her hometown, they met in Olathe, KS where they both worked. Two daughters blessed this union. His hobbies included wood-working, the Chiefs, and Kansas State University sports.

He was a medical specialist in the Army Reserve. Dana was preceded in death by his grandparents Dana Sherman Hewett, Sr, Orvetta Christine (Clouse) Hewett, and Wallace Olen Moore.

He is survived by his wife and daughters, Aubryiana Olyvia and Gabrielle Dayanara of Olathe; his parents of Topeka; in-laws Edward and Barbara Tien of Phillipsburg and Wendell and Alice Lentz of Hays; sisters Nicole Goodrow of Topeka and Shaundell (Brian) VanPelt of Hays; sisters-in-law Stephanie (Paul) Alvarado of Olathe and Tami (Bret) Wood of Hays; six nephews, Chase Goodrow, Trey VanPelt, Kristion Tien, and Randy, Nolan, and Myles Wood; four nieces, Elizabeth and Emily Goodrow, Kelsey Wood, and Brianna VanPelt; grandmother Ruth Moore of St. Francis, KS; two uncles Dennis Hewett of Frontenac, KS an Rex (Janice) Hewett of Henry, IL; aunt Joyce (Allen) Andersen of Lexington, SC; and nine cousins.

Visitation and service will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 18 at McGilley & Frye Funeral Home, 105 East Loula, Olathe.

Burial will take place at Topeka Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers in the names of his daughters.
