Hayden Haines Jr., 75, died Friday, June 7, 2002, at Johnson Memorial Hospital. He was a resident of Trafalgar.

He was born Dec. 20, 1926, in Johnson County. His parents were Hayden C. and Fern (Applegate) Haines. He married Doris Mae (Wilson) Haines in April 1950 in Tennessee. She preceded him in death Feb. 9, 1989. Survivors include two daughters, Cindy Haines of Trafalgar and Pamela Haines of Morgantown; a stepdaughter, Beverly Smith of Franklin; a stepson, Leston "Butch" McVicar of Clay City; a brother, Harold Haines of Edinburgh; eight grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Fredrick S. Haines, in 2000; a brother, Bobby Haines; and a grandson, Michael McVicar.

He was a truck driver for R.O. Barber Trucking Co. in Franklin from 1968 to 1981. He was employed by LaBreck Construction Co. in Columbus from 1981 to 1989 and later owned and operated his own trucking business.

He was a member of Edinburgh American Legion and Teamsters Local 135 in Columbus.

He enjoyed dancing and socializing with friends and family.

He was a six-year member of the Indiana National Guard in the 1950s.

The Rev. Burt Brock will conduct a service at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Nineveh Cemetery.

Hayden Haines Jr., 75, of Trafalgar, died Friday, June 7, 2002, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin.

Mr. Haines was a retired trucking company owner and driver. He had previously worked for R.O. Barber Trucking Co. in Franklin and LaBrec Construction Co. in Columbus.

He was a member of Edinburgh American Legion Post and the Teamsters local in Columbus. He served in the Indiana National Guard for six years.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home in Morgantown, with the Rev. Burt Brock officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be at Nineveh Cemetery.
