Mrs. A.A. (Car Lou Lea) Bennett of Douglasville died July 25, 1992. She was 100. Mrs. Bennett began teaching piano at the age of 14 and at age 16 began study at the Conservatory of Music in Muncie, Ind., and continued her education at Taylor University in Upton, Ind. She married and moved to Sandersville, Ga., where she and her husband, Arthur, raised four children. In 1947 she and her family moved to Douglasville to the house where she still lived. At the age of 58, she resumed teaching piano. She retired at the age of 90 following 32 years, 30 recitals and 750 students. She was active all her life in church and community organizations. She played in an all-female band, visited nursing homes and shutins until nearly the age of 95. Mrs. Bennett is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert (Sarah) Bennett of Athens, Mr. and Mrs. Donald (Betty) Bennett of Douglasville; daughters and son-in-law, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Bolding, Mr. and Mrs. David (Dot) Padgett, all of Douglasville; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services were July 27 at First United Methodist Church of Douglasville. The Rev. Herbert Outlaw officiated. Burial was in Douglasville City Cemetery.
