Warren R. Bilderback, 80, of Columbus died at 2:25 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, at Silver Oaks Health Campus.

Mr. Bilderback was an auditor with the U.S. Department of Agriculture for 27 years. He was a graduate of Gerstemeyer High School in Terre Haute and a 1953 graduate of Indiana State University, with a bachelor's degree in science.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, NARFE of Columbus, the Murat Shrine of Indianapolis, Columbus High Twelve Club No. 337, Grand Lodge F&AM of Indiana, Terre Haute Lodge No. 19 and the Terre Haute Valley of the Scottish Rite.

A veteran, Mr. Bilderback served with the Army during World War II and in the occupation of Japan after the war.

The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Myers-Reed Dignity Memorial Chapel on 25th Street with the Rev. Jon Carlstrom officiating. Calling will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church or the American Heart Association.

Born in Dennison, Texas, Dec. 19, 1926, Mr. Bilderback was the son of Ethel Jane Jones Bilderback. He married Bonnie Sanders May 24, 1957, at Albuquerque, N.M.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Steven Bilderback of Columbus; a daughter, Sandra Bilderback of Indianapolis; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother and a brother, Wayne Bilderback.
