VALLIE LEROY BASS
Lake City - Funeral services for Vallie LeRoy Bass, 80, of Lake City, were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Mar. 10, at the Huffman Memorial Chapel in Lake City with the Rev. Lawrence Jones, pastor of the Union church, officiating.
Graveside rites were held at 2 p.m. at the Mineral Ridge cemetery at Ridgeport, north of Boone, Iowa.
Mr. Bass, a retired employee of the Chicago & North Western Railway, died early Saturday, Mar. 8, at Stewart Memorial Hospital, Lake City.
Survivors include two daughters; Ardis Bierend, Fort Worth, Tex., and Reva Bass, Des Moines; a grandchild and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded by his parents, wife Frances [Joyce Anderson] in [Oct 24] 1973 and a son Robert, a Marine corpsman killed in action in the Pacific theater during World War II.
Mr. Bass was born at Stratford, Iowa Feb. 4, 1900, and had lived in Lake City for about 16 years. He was married to Frances Anderson at Stratford June 19, 1920.
