Capers W [C. W.] Holman. He was born about 1830 in Orangeburg District, SC. He lived in Butler County, AL before the Civil War started. He enlisted in the CSA, 17th Alabama Infantry Regiment as a private. From POW records found on Ancestry.com, he was captured in Nashville, TN on 15 Dec 1864 and was sent to Camp Douglas, Chicago, IL. He died on 26 Jan 1865 from pleuritis and was buried in Block 2, plot 578 in the Confederate Mound of the Chicago city cemetery (Oak Woods).
