Son and 6th child of Seaborn Ivy and Dovie Susannah (Whitman) Denson. He served as a gunner's mate in the US Navy from 1938 to 1958, achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer, and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He earned the nicknamed "Larry" while he was serving in the US Navy. He was married four times: His 1st wife was Tressie Trussell, from the Crane Hill AL community, who he married sometime after joining the Navy. He then married a woman named Gloria (maiden name unknown), followed by a woman named Gainelle (sp? - maiden name unknown) who he divorced around 1958. On June 20, 1965 he married his 4th wife, Modine Kilgo, in Helicon AL and remained with her until her death. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. After retiring from the Navy, he worked at Fruehauf Manufacturing in Decatur IL until he was disabled as a result of a work injury. He died of a heart attack while a patient at the Cullman Hospital, Cullman AL.
