John was born on a farm in Tyler Co, WV, the son of Juliette Soper and Thomas Jefferson McCoy. Married Oct. 15, 1880 to Susan T. Wells. He founded "The Daily Oil Review" in 1895. He was an attorney. He died at the Sistersville General Hospital at 82y2m17d from arteriosclerosis (onset 1923), chronic interstitial nephritis (onset 1928) and coronary thrombosis (04 Oct 1938). He also had prostatic hypertrophy (onsest 1928).
