Alice D. Shepherd, 90, of 25th Street died at 10:50 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, at Hickory Creek of Columbus.

Mrs. Shepherd was a former employee of Arvin Industries and for many years operated a beauty shop at her home. She was a member of Sandy Hook United Methodist Church.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Barkes, Inlow & Weaver Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Edward Bennett officiating. Calling will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday and from noon until service time Monday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Born in Columbus Oct. 25, 1912, Mrs. Shepherd was the daughter of Ora E. and Ella Barkes Quillen. She married Ernest Shepherd Feb. 28, 1930.

Survivors include her care-giver, JoAnne Shepherd of Columbus; grandchildren, Bob Reed of Columbus, David C. Shepherd of Glendale, Ariz., and Kandace Shepherd of Londondarry, N.H.; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Nov. 12, 1974; a son, David L. Shepherd; and sisters, Thelma Tewell and Mina Barkes.
